  1. To close a file, choose Close from the File menu or click the close box at the top left corner of the Document window.

  3. If you’ve modified the file since you last saved it, an alert box asks whether you want to save or discard the changes, or cancel the close operation, leaving the Document window open.

  5. If you try to close a new, untitled document, an alert box asks whether you want to save or discard the changes, or cancel the close operation.  Choosing Save displays the Save As dialog box.  Type in a file name and save the file.
